Singapore's plant-based dining scene has grown well beyond health-food cafes — there's now everything from a Michelin Bib Gourmand Peranakan-Thai kitchen to hawker-style vegan comfort food. Here's LoveKindEat's running guide to some of the best vegan and vegetarian restaurants across the island, organised by what you're craving. Know a spot we should add? Tell us in the comments — this list will keep growing.

Whole Earth — Peranakan-Thai, Tanjong Pagar

Singapore's only vegetarian restaurant with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and running since 2003. The Penang rendang made with shiitake mushroom and the Thai sweet-and-sour "meat" are the dishes people come back for. A good choice when you want to convince a skeptical, meat-eating friend that plant-based food can be a proper night out.

GreenDot — Modern Local, Islandwide

A homegrown vegetarian chain with several outlets across Singapore, GreenDot does meat-free versions of local staples — laksa, char kway teow, bak kut teh — alongside rice bowls and noodles. Reliable, casual, and easy to find near most MRT lines, which makes it a good everyday option rather than an occasion restaurant.

Herbivore — Japanese Vegetarian

Singapore's first fully Japanese vegetarian restaurant, known for mock salmon sashimi, unagi maki and katsu curry that convincingly recreate the textures of the originals. Worth seeking out if you miss Japanese food specifically, rather than plant-based food in general.

VeganBurg — Vegan Fast Food

One of the first 100% plant-based fast-food chains in Singapore, with soy- and mushroom-based patties and multiple outlets around the island. The go-to when you want something quick, casual and familiar rather than a sit-down meal.

Lingzhi Vegetarian — Chinese Dim Sum, Chinatown

Based in Far East Square, Lingzhi does proper Chinese vegetarian dim sum — a rarer find than you'd expect in Singapore. A solid pick for a weekend brunch or when hosting family who want something familiar and Cantonese-style.

Komala Vilas & Kailash Parbat — Indian Vegetarian, Little India

Little India is one of the easiest neighbourhoods in Singapore to eat fully vegetarian without even trying. Komala Vilas serves South and North Indian thalis, including a vegetable biryani set with curry, chapati and dal. Kailash Parbat is known for its chaat — Indian street snacks with vegetable fillings and tamarind and mint chutneys.

Warung Ijo — Indonesian Vegetarian

Spice-forward, coconut-rich Indonesian dishes made entirely without meat. A good option if you want Southeast Asian flavours that go beyond the usual Chinese and Malay vegetarian standards.

Thunder Tree — Vegan Hakka, Fortune Centre

Fully vegan and specialising in homely Hakka dishes, with Thunder Tea Rice — a Hakka specialty of rice topped with a herbal tea-based broth and mixed vegetables — as the signature order. One of the more affordable, no-frills options on this list.

Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant — Buffet

A buffet spanning Japanese sushi, Chinese, Malay and Peranakan vegetarian dishes under one roof. Useful for groups with different cravings, or for a first vegetarian-restaurant outing with meat-eating family members who want variety.
